The 22nd IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion, held in Curitiba from May 22 to 26, 2016, received last December 1st, the Ambassador of Curitiba Award, offered by the Curitiba and Region Convention & Visitors Bureau – CCVB and Municipal Institute of Tourism of Curitiba.

The Ambassador of Curitiba Award aims to recognize institutions that promoted events in the city, which, in addition to generating positive economic impacts, have developed from differentiated proposals aligned with the image of the city.

This edition of the IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion brought together around 3,000 participants from 65 countries, who discussed the theme Promoting Health and Equity. The recognition of urban changes and the strengthening of emerging voices in people's life contexts was the basis for discussing ways to achieve sustainable and healthy development through intersectoral actions. Strategies such as Health in All Policies and the building of Healthy Cities have been highlighted as a means to promote the commitment of all citizens to health and equity.

The organization of the event involved more than 250 people, representatives of governmental and non-governmental institutions, universities and the private sector, linked in 5 national and international committees.

The Award was received by the general organizer of the event, Simone Tetu Moysés, Solena Kusma, the IUHPE Brazilian representative, and Tânia Maria dos Santos Pires, representative of the Municipal Health Secretariat of Curitiba, as well as Claudia Schneck de Jesus, general secretary of the Conference’s organization committees.
